The Good-For-You Tan

Ever wished that some day they would discover a way to tan that would actually be good for you? No free radicals, no harmful UV lights, just the sun-kissed glow that we all strive for in these short summer months. Perhaps there is a solution: bronzer.  But not just any bronzer, this VMV Hypoallergenics “Tarte-à-Tan” powder works miracles for your skin.

Getting ready for the beach at my house is an unusual experience. My beach bag consists of: a good summer read, sunglasses, towels, my iPod, some snacks and the lowest SPF Tanning Lotion that I can find. Without fail my mother manages to slip SPF 50 sunscreen in to my bag as I slip out the door. I know better than to come home red as a lobster from my preferred tanning lotion. Yet again my dreams of a beach-bronzed bod slip away.

Well, not anymore! So it may not be for my entire body, but it tackles the most important feature: my face. I’ve found a bronzer that not only gives me the perfect sun-kissed glow, but also pampers my skin with benefits that you won’t believe.

VMV Hypoallergenics is a company dedicated to producing products that are healthy to use on your skin. They focus on eliminating known allergens and jam pack their goods with real benefits – quite the difference from your average skincare brand.

This particular bronzer has a VMV rating of -76, which means that the powder is made without any of the 76 common known allergens. The benefits don’t stop there. This little guy also has USDA-certified organic virgin coconut oil, which means your skin can indulge in rich hydration, repair from sun damage and other anti-aging benefits.

Tarte-à-Tan also trades free radicals for antioxidants like green tea and rice phytic acid and acne-fighting monolaurin. Even more notable than what they put in is what VMV leaves out. This bronzer is also 100% fragrance, phthalate, paraben, preservative and dye-free!

Enough about the technical mumbo jumbo, does it actually work?  Yes.

The lightly pressed powder went on smooth and added the perfect flush of color without making my cheeks Snooki-rific. It is light and leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean (try getting that from your average bronzer). There is a slight shimmer that reflects a golden light and gives you that effortless balanced glow.

Tarte-à-Tan definitely gets my vote for best bronzer that I’ve tried this summer. What better way to get that sweet summer look than a bronzer that’s as stylish as it is beneficial!
